We die, we try, we cry, we keep it rolling
This work welcomed participants to roll grape leaves in honor of 10 Palestinian men who were using hunger strike to protest their administrative detention (imprisonment without reason or trial) during the time of the work, in Israeli prisons. The table cloth was inspired by the posters I found in honor of freedom fighters and hunger strike prisoners in Palestine. The work opened a conversation about the situation of administrative detention and oppression. It highlights the steadfast men who love life and freedom so much that they are willing to sacrifice their health and even die for it. Through acts of love and labor we imagine the celebration that would be held upon their release.
