Trying to get a glimpse of the homeland
Trying to get a glimpse of the homeland is a series of 35mm film photography documentation I took on a trip with my father. Our original plan was to tour through the Palestinian territories. For my father these territories exist as a memory at the intersection of nostalgia and trauma, For me the territories exist as the most important and intangible spaces I try to access again and again through fabricated memories pieced together from the internet and second hand memories of my family. Our original trip was halted due to the 2017 US administration decision to announce Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The political uproar and the precariousness of both my father and my own political reputations made him take the decision to no longer travel to the territories. Instead we toured the boarders of Palestine peering over the edge from Jordan and Lebanon.
